BRENT SMITH: SHINEDOWN Is 'Four Weeks Into Recording' New Studio Album
February 20, 2015SHINEDOWN singer Brent Smith revealed via the band's Twitter account earlier today (Friday, February 20) that he and his bandmates are "four weeks into recording" their new album for a tentative "late July [or] early August" release. The CD's first single may arrive as soon as late April. The vocalist added that "survival" is a theme for the new disc and stated: "It's a devastating album — beautifully brutal."
Asked by one fan for one of his all-time favorite songs, Smith replied; "They are being recorded right now." He also confirmed that SHINEDOWN will be back on the road later this year, with dates already confirmed for the Moondance Jam in Walker, Minnesota on July 18 and the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson, Michigan on August 9.
SHINEDOWN recently teamed with longtime collaborator Darren Doane — who directed the band's companion music videos for singles "Devour", "Sound Of Madness", "Bully", "Enemies" and "I'll Follow You" — on a full-length feature film to accompany the as-yet-untitled new album's release.
"Amaryllis", the latest album from SHINEDOWN, was certified gold last year by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for shipments in excess of 500,000 copies. With this latest certification, all four studio albums released by the Florida band have been certified gold and/or platinum.
SHINEDOWN is: Brent Smith (vocals),Barry Kerch (drums),Zach Myers (guitar),and Eric Bass (bass).
